Three deaths in Alberta waters over the weekend

Tragedy on provincial waters this weekend.

One boy is confirmed dead, and second is believed to be dead, while hope is faint for a toddler.

A 10-year old boy died after he drowned in Elk Island National park Sunday evening.

RCMP say the family called for help around 8:30 p.m., saying they couldn’t find the boy, but by the time crews arrived family members had found his body.

The name of the boy is not being released, and victim services are assisting the family.

Near Lethbridge, the search continues for the body of what is believed to be a 14-year old boy, who authorities think has likely drowned on the Old Man River.

Witnesses saw him go under and get swept away Friday night.

The search also continues for a two-year-old near Grande Prairie.

The toddler has been missing since Friday evening when he disappeared near the Wapati River at the Canfor.

Numerous agencies are involved in that search, including the RCMP, Fish and Wildlife officers, Search and Rescue teams, along with staff from the MD of Greenview, and the county and city of Grande Prairie.
