CPO violinist goes from the orchestra to competing in the Calgary Stampede

Adriana Lebedovich has a love for horses, a love that rivals her passion for music.
The 2nd violin with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is usually found at this time of year playing with her fellow musicians at the Heavy Horse Show events at the Calgary Stampede.
However, a finger injury this year kept her from playing, clearing the way for an opportunity of a life time.
Lebedovich says she was over the moon when she found out she would be competing in the heavy horse show at the Calgary Stampede and living out a dream.
“We had talked about this for a while now, but it hadn’t materialized until this year,” said Lebedovich.
Lebedovich is competing with the Mark Messenger Memorial Hitch from Cheyenne, Wyoming.
President and CEO of the CPO Paul Dornian says Lebedovich’s love of horses is well known amongst the orchestra.
“If you see her on Facebook, she has got as much up there about her horses and her horse trips as she does about playing in the orchestra,” said Dornian.
She says putting the CPO and the Heavy Horse Show together makes for a powerful combination.
“To see all of these horses at the same time, it’s just this immense power in the ring, combined with this great force of classical music.”
The Heavy Horse Show is going on for seven days this year at the Calgary Stampede, highlighted by the World Six Horse Hitch Championships on Tuesday night.
