One man killed in collision near Morley

A multi-vehicle collision caused big traffic delays just east of Morley Road on Highway 1 as many Calgarians were heading home from their long weekend.

Adam Loria with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) says they responded to the scene at around 12:30 Monday afternoon.

“When EMS arrived we determined one person deceased, that being an adult male,” he said.

RCMP say a semi-trailer struck a sedan, killing the 61 year old driver of the car from Redcliff.

Two other vehicles were involved in the crash but no other injuries were reported.

Mounties also say there was heavy rain and hail in the area at the time of the crash but no word on whether that may have been a factor.

The eastbound lanes of the Trans Canada were shut down for hours leading to major delays but reopened around 8 p.m. Monday.
