Police investigating speed as possible factor in fatal pedestrian crash

Calgary police say speed is being investigated as a factor after a pickup truck struck two women in a marked crosswalk on Tuesday morning.

An 83-year-old woman died on scene in the intersection of Acadia Drive and 97th Avenue Southeast.

A 21-year-old woman was taken to hospital where she is now in serious but stable condition.

The 46-year-old man driving the truck was not hurt.

Police say alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
