Three people die in Alberta single vehicle crash

Three seniors are dead after the minivan they were in drove off the highway near Coaldale in southern Alberta Wednesday night.

Investigators said the Ford Freestar was heading northbound on Highway 845 when it went off the road on a curve, just before a set of Canadian Pacific Railway tracks, into a deep ditch where it struck the north bank.

The speed zone in the area transitioned from 100 kilometres per hour to 65.

Two women and a man died of injuries suffered from the impact.

RCMP said all three are believed to be from the Raymond area, and they are in the process of notifying next of kin.
