One more day until we meet the Calgary Zoo’s pandas

It’s the day animal lovers have been waiting for.  Four pandas, on loan from China, finally get to show their faces to the public when the Calgary Zoo opens Panda Passage on Monday.

The day will kick off with a big grand opening.

“We’re not giving away everything, but we do have some high level Chinese delegates here, we have the ambassador from Ottawa […] lots of special guests, that will all be happening in the morning,” said spokesperson Trish Exton-Parder. “We’ll have entertainment and then we’ll be opening up the gates.”

That opening is expected to start at about noon.

The morning celebration is open to park-goers, but be prepared for a very busy attraction.

The pandas arrived in March and have been getting accustomed to their new digs, which cost more than $15 million to build.
