Warm weather ideal for golf course openings

After a long, cold winter, Calgary golfers are itching to tee off.

Most major golf courses in and around the city have plans to open this week, and early season conditions look good.

Silverwing Links is set to open Wednesday, and General Manager David Robinson said his course is in good shape.

“Well, the greens are very good. They wintered well. They were covered with our tarps and we took them off late last week. They look like they are very healthy and in good shape, so that’s a good thing. The fairways did have a lot of snow, but the last couple days have been very warm and that wind has helped dry them out,” he said.

Along with Silverwing, Heather Glen will open on Thursday and Fox Hollow is already up and running.
