Flooding situation getting worse in Alberta

The spring thaw flooding is getting worse and closer to Calgary.

The village of Beiseker, north of the city, has issued a state of local emergency.

Red Deer County has also issued an alert, along with Kneehill County, on the east side of the QE2, where a flood watch is also in effect for streams in the area.

Several rural municipalities south of Calgary have had local states of emergency for days as warm weather causes the heavy snow from the winter to melt rapidly, turning farmers fields into lakes and washing out roads.
