Snow in the forecast, but not enough for a parking ban

Another blanket of snow is expected to cover Calgary, but it’s not expected to be like the winter blasts the city has seen over the last two months. Environment Canada forecasted five to 10 centimetres of snow would fall on the city on Saturday. The agency said a weather system bringing the snow is expected to stay in the Calgary region for a few days.

“Maybe by Monday afternoon the snow should start to pull out, with that the temperatures are going to be in and around the zero degree mark so hopefully we’ll see some sun by early next week,” said meteorologist Heather Pimiskern.

The City of Calgary’s roads department finished plowing major routes late Friday night, but they were back at it again Saturday morning to deal with the new snowfall.

“The forecast does look like it’s going to be warmer temperatures ahead so that is going to help us as well. Right now we’re applying wetted salt to the road to keep the ice at bay, but we do remind citizens that it is winter conditions out there and they should drive accordingly,” said spokesperson Chris McGeachy.

The city does not expect to call a snow route parking ban.
