Elementary school teacher faces child pornography charges in southern Alberta

An elementary school teacher in a community near Lethbridge, has been charged with child exploitation offences.

44-year-old Mark Anderson, who teaches at Brocket Elementary School, is accused of possessing, accessing, and distributing child pornography.

Police said while the charges are only related to online offences, they are encouraging anyone with information about this case to contact them.

A number of computers and electronic devices that were seized from Anderson’s Pincher Creek home will be examined.

Along with being a teacher, Anderson is also involved in various youth-oriented community programs on a First Nation, including minor sports and Scouts Canada.

Anderson is expected to appear in court on January 30, 2018.
