The head of an Edmonton cab company says a driver has been suspended after a woman alleged her son was left to walk home in extreme cold on New Year’s Eve because he didn’t have enough money.
Phil Strong, president of the Edmonton Taxi Group and Yellow Cab, says the company is looking into two different versions of what happened.
He says it’s the company’s policy that drivers don’t drop off passengers when it’s unsafe, even if they don’t have money.
Marci Terpsma says her 19-year-old son Carson was ordered out of the cab Sunday night, when the temperature was minus-37 Celsius with the wind chill.
She says the cab driver was negligent and should lose his licence, but the cabbie says the teen insisted on getting out.
