Calgary ranked #34 among world’s greatest cities

Calgary is among some of the top cities in the world according to a new survey.

Calgary ranked No. 34 on the World’s Best Cities 2018 list, which is compiled by global consulting firm Resonance Consultancy.

The Top 100 cities are chosen based on six key categories: place, product, programming, people, prosperity and promotion.

Calgary scored relatively high in the prosperity category, including an impressive #8 in GDP per capita, only one spot behind New York.

An in-depth write up finds “… an energy here of a much larger place. People walk with the velocity of New Yorkers, and cut to the chase like Texans.”

The review also compares the East Village neighborhood as a “rising phoenix,” which compares with any city-building project in the country.

London was at the top of the list. Toronto (#13) was the top-ranked Canadian city, followed by Vancouver (#29).

Edmonton (#60) made the list for the first time.
