660 NEWS presented with a prestigious journalism award

The 2017 National Edward R. Murrow awards have been handed out and 660 NEWS is thrilled to be among the winners, honoured for its continuing coverage of the last year’s Fort McMurray Wildfire.

The submission dubbed “The Beast” is the same entry that was among the Regional winners announced earlier this spring.

Of the various awards given to journalists and broadcast outlets, the Murrow Awards are among the most respected journalism awards in the world.

“The large market award represents a total team effort,” 660 NEWS Director Kevin Usselman said, quick to share the honour with everyone working in his newsroom.

“I’m proud of the work 660 NEWS staff generate each and everyday, each of whom have made a commitment to provide the best news coverage for our listeners in and around Calgary.”

Usselman added, “even though the wildfire was in Fort McMurray it impacted the entire province and 660 NEWS realized how important it was for the radio station to share essential information. It’s a story we continue to follow because people care.”
