A group of Calgarians braved the cold Monday to show their support for the Israeli soldiers that were mowed down over the weekend.
A Palestinian truck driver drove into a popular tourist spot in Jerusalem Sunday killing four soldiers and injuring 17 others.
President of the Jewish Defence League of Alberta Don Sharp says this tragedy is very close to his heart.
“I stood in that spot on the promenade where they stood and where they were run over, it’s very personal for me, we did some training with the officers and soldiers just south of Bethlehem and it’s just heartbreaking to see this sort of thing happen.” Sharp said.
Sharp adds the gratitude they have for Canada coming over to help is overwhelming and the humanity they show is amazing.
“They don’t hate the people who are trying to kill them they’re desperate to work with legitimate peace partners if they can find them, I think it’s horrific that somebody would literally make it their mission to murder good people like this.”
Sharp adds although they feel rather helpless here in Calgary this gathering was one thing they could do to publicly show their support and give their condolences to the families and friends of those killed.
