A local organization has been given a donation as part of Family Violence Prevention Month.
The provincial government has promised $150,000 to the Punjabi Community Health Services, and Minister of Human Services Irfan Sabir says as a government it’s their responsibility to take leadership.
“Step forward with the supports to all the community organizations or partners to make a concerted effort to put an end to domestic violence.”
Sabir adds his department has made 53 grants available to different organizations across the province which is a total of $11.6 million that has been spent on domestic violence programs.
The Punjabi Community Health Services began operations about a year ago and has served close to 200 families so far in Calgary.
