Calgary man wanted in violent home invasion arrested in Chestermere

Mounties have found a man wanted in connection with a violent home invasion more than a week and a half ago in the community of Exshaw.

Jarred Ivan Genaille was found in Chestermere after RCMP responded to a complaint of someone trying to break into cars.

Investigators were called to a house in Exshaw just before 11 a.m. on October 20 after getting a call about someone who had knocked on the door and forced their way inside.

The homeowner told Cochrane RCMP that the suspect was brandishing an edged weapon and robbed them of what they can only describe as “personal property” and the owner’s dark grey Toyota Rav 4.

Police later found the SUV abandoned north of Morley and issued a news release asking for information on the whereabouts of Genaille.

The 22 year old Calgary man is now facing several charges including Break, Enter and Commit Assault with a weapon, Robbery, Forcible Confinement, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, four counts of Fail to comply with Recognizance and Fail to comply with Probation.

He remains behind bars and will appear in Canmore court next on Wednesday.

Exshaw is located about 90 kilometres west of Calgary.
