High River looking for direction on its economic future

Time is running out to provide input into the future economic development of High River.

The southern Alberta town has been gathering data with an online survey for the last few weeks. The deadline to take part is Wednesday at midnight.

It comes as officials are set to begin construction and revitalize a section of the flood ravaged community which will likely mean millions of dollars spent.

“We’re wanting to find out what’s important to people if they are living in High River,” said Senior Consultant with Twist Marketing Monica Kohlhammer. “If they are visiting or know of others who are visiting, what’s important in terms of businesses that are or aren’t here right now,”

“We’re trying to better understand from people what’s important to them and how we create a prosperous future really for the Town of High River and surrounding area,” she adds.

Kohlhammer said they’re putting a real push out and are hoping some will take 30 to 40 minutes of their day to complete the survey.

It’s expected the results will play a role in the revitalization project.
