Alderman wants more public consultation on Sandy Beach

City council will be talking about the controversial redevelopment of Sandy Beach park on Monday.

Some who live near the southwest area are worried that planners will go too far to transform the aging park, and take away its “rustic feel”.

Ward 11 Alderman Brian Pincott will ask council to come up with a new public engagement plan.

Pincott tells 660News, it is clear work is needed because the area has been “loved to death”.

Some of the many challenges include overuse in the dog park areas, erosion on Britannia slopes to degradation and erosion along the entire length of the river.

But Pincott says he wants to make sure the park remains sustainable and viable. He also believes it’s important that people feel like their concerns are being heard.
