A man who ran a red light with his grader killing a Calgary woman has been acquitted.
A judge ruled that Guy Basil McTaggart took reasonable care when he entered the intersection of Southland Drive and Deerfoot Trail.
He hit another vehicle, killing 44-year-old Sonya Isley.
The 73-year-old McTaggart says the setting sun made the green light appear lit up at the time of the crash.
The Calgary Sun reports evidence from police investigators supported that claim.
The judge stressed the acquittal should not be seen to minimize the tragedy, and expressed sympathy for Isley's family.
