Saturday afternoon's thunderstorm didn't just put a crimp in long weekend plans, it also is being blamed for a fire in the southwest community of Bridlewood.

The blaze started just before 4 p.m. on the corner of Bridlerange Place, when a bolt of lightning struck a duplex. There people were inside and one of them noticed smoke coming from the roof.

A spokesman with the fire department tells 660News the flames were put out in about 15 minutes, though a 2nd alarm was called as a precaution.

No one was injured. There is no estimate on the damage yet.

There were also reports of a second lightning-sparked fire in the southeast community of Sundance. But the fire department says there was no blaze and no evidence of a lightning strike.
