A tax watchdog wants to put an end to film grants altogether following news that an anti-oilsands flick got almost $55,000 in provincial funding.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation tells The Calgary Sun ordinary people make their own decisions about what films to support every day when they walk into a theatre or video store.
Premier Ed Stelmach has said while he doesn't like that provincial money went to the "Dirty Oil" film, choosing not to fund it would have amounted to censorship.
