The province is poised to break its record for land sales.

Alberta has brought in about $1.24-billion so far this year, which puts it in striking distance of the $1.8-billion it made selling oil and gas rights back in 2005.

The Calgary Herald reports 2010 will already go down in history as one of the busiest buying years on record.

There are still eight land sales left this year.
