Friends remember Calgary woman who drowned in Ontario

A Calgary woman who drowned in Ontario's Lake Erie is being remembered as a great geologist.
Cynthia Riediger had served as an instructor at the University of Calgary and was recently employed by Shell Canada.
The 53-year-old was also the mother of two teenaged daughters.
Long-time friend of Riediger, Ashton Embry, tells 660News she touched many lives.
A friend from grade school and U of C geosciences professor, Cathy Ryan, tells The Calgary Herald that Riediger was vibrant, energetic, wonderful and giving.
She was also known to have a love of science and was a natural athlete.
Cynthia Riediger was engaged to be married and a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, at the Harrow Mennonite Church in Ontario.
Another service is planned for Calgary sometime in the future.
Reidiger drowned after jumping into the water trying to save another person.
Her body was found by by a resident walking along the shore of Pelee Island.
