The mayor is putting an end to talk of demolishing homes to make way for a southwest ring road.
The province is looking for a way to build the throughway after the T'suu Tina First Nation rejected a deal to use its land.
Homeowners are worried that hundreds of homes will now be cleared in Lakeview to make way for the road.
Mayor Dave Bronconnier says that's not going to happen.
The city initiated an interchange at 37th Street SW and Glenmore Trail.
The province is expected to come up with an ultimate design later this year.
