The number of people from Calgary buying up vacation property in the U.S. is on the rise.
That's despite the global economy not quite being on solid ground yet.
Laura Parsons with BMO tells 660News it's hard to resist the lure of a five-bedroom mansion, complete with a pool, for between $200,000 and $400,000.
She says people are being drawn in by the prospect of getting a dream home that can only go up in value.
"A lot of people are expecting that the market will change and not short-term, but long-term," she says.
But she adds that before people head south to snap up a bargain, they should do their homework and make sure they're dealing with an expert in the local real estate market.
Phoenix, Arizona is the most popular destination for people from Calgary looking to snap up a vacation property.
