Curling proved to be one of the most popular sports at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
One of the main reasons was Canada's Team Bernard, the Calgary-based women's curling squad that wore the maple leaf and captured the silver medal.
Skip Cheryl Bernard powered her squad through robin robin play and into the final in front of an unforgettable, rock concert like crowd in Vancouver. "I've never in my life played in front of that kind of a crowd, in that noise," she tells 660News.
"We couldn't even speak to our sweepers that were two feet away. They propelled us along and we could do no wrong. They were amazing that way."
The foursome's run to the final came with plenty of attention and for Bernard, it's been an adjustment coming home to Calgary. "It's a little different trying to get used to trying to get through the grocery store and through the airports," she explains with a laugh.
"When you're not used to it, it's always shocking because somebody will say my name and I'm like 'Uh-oh, what?'. It's usually someone saying congratulations and that we did our country proud. I don't think anyone could hear that too much."
Now that the team has had a taste of Olympic play, they may want more. "I think we are all considering 2014," Bernard says .
One thing on Bernard's "to do" list includes meeting Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla. She hopes to run into him at an event in the near future.
As for where she keeps her silver medal, it's not in a display case just yet. Speaking engagements are taking up much of her time right now, so her medal will remain in her purse and with her at all times.
