Tight security at venues during Paralympics

Jim Goddard and Stephanie Irvine Mar 12, 2010 19:54:43 PM
Will Vancouver run into as many traffic and security hassles with the Paralympics as they did with the Olympics?

There won't be large areas of the city crawling with police officers, but VANOC CEO John Furlong says security will be tight at venues.

"The security level will be the same," he says.  "You'll have the same procedure going in and out of the venues, but because there are fewer venues and fewer events than we had during the Olympic Games it will not be as noticeable as it was."

Furlong adds with many events sold out or close to selling out it will be important for people to arrive early to clear security and get seated.
