A verdict is expected Friday afternoon in the trial of the parents of a Calgary child who died of a methadone overdose.

Lisa Guerin and her ex-husband Jonathan Hope are charged in the death of their 16-month old daughter Summer, after the girl drank her father's methadone.

Guerin told court Thursday she didn't know Summer had consumed the methadone and says she would have stayed home if she was aware it had happened.

A friend of Guerin's has testified that both parents saw Summer with an orange stain on her chin and shirt and both assumed the girl had sipped the methadone but did nothing.
