Housing prices are up across Canada

Statistics Canada is reporting house prices are still on the rise.

For the third straight month, the new housing price index rose 0.4 percent in January.
The biggest price gains were in St. John's Newfoundland, followed by Winnipeg and Toronto.

The price of a new home in Calgary posted a gain of 0.5 percent.

Year over year the new housing price index was up in January, the first time that has happened since December 2008
