Gangs recruiting in smaller communities

Tanya Fletcher Mar 11, 2010 07:51:17 AM
Violent gangs appear to be trickling out of the big cities and into smaller communities across Canada to recruit new members.

According to the Canadian Association of Police Boards, gangs have generally been limited to large cities, but now their target seems to be shifting toward more vulnerable youth in small towns.

The board's president tells the Calgary Sun, it's no longer a big-city problem.

He says gangs are trying to fly under the radar by taking advantage of a lack of resources and expertise in tiny communities across the country.
