School hostage speaks out

Tanya Fletcher and Joel Wregget Mar 09, 2010 07:44:31 AM
A secretary held hostage at a school in the city's southwest says she feared for her life.

Bonnie Grainger was kept at knifepoint in the school office of A.E. Cross Junior High for nearly two hours last week.

Grainger tells a Calgary online news source it was only a matter of seconds before the 25-year-old suspect pulled out a butcher knife - and that's when she knew it was serious.

At one point, the man stabbed the desk twice, cutting his own thumb.

Grainger says the most terrifying part of the ordeal, was when the man told a police officer "I'm going to jail anyway, I might as well go for something good," while standing behind her.

Matthew Adeniran has now been charged with 10 offences.
