A 30-year-old man is dead after a snowboarding accident at Castle Mountain Resort over the weekend.
Officials at the resort say the man, believed to be an experienced snowboarder, was on a beginners run when he lost control, slid into a ditch and smashed into a tree stump at high speed.
The victim, who was with his fiancée, was wearing protective gear at the time of the crash.
Witnesses say he was trying to avoid other skiers on the run just before he crashed.
