A man has died after getting caught in an avalanche in West Kootenay B.C.

He was out on Meadow Mountain, with 7 to 8 others, all part of a local wilderness skiing group business Friday morning.

He was pulled from the snow, but despite CPR efforts, he was not revived.

The rest of the group were not injured and RCMP do not know what triggered the slide, or if the other members of the group were caught in it.

The man's name has not been released.
