The city is in the process of figuring out how to get the most out of its aging CTrain fleet while it waits for new cars to arrive in 2014.
The oldest models date back to 1981, and maintenance of the units led to rush-hour system shut-downs as recently as last spring.
The Calgary Herald reports three new electro-mechanics and another technician will be hired to lead full-scale maintenance reviews.
The $500,000, three-year plan also calls for changing up when repair work is performed.
More staff will move off the day shift to work the afternoon and night shifts to prep cars for peak-hour service.
