A northern British Columbia first nation is calling for Canadians to invest in liquefied natural gas projects instead of Enbridge's Northern Gateway Pipeline.
In a letter to the National Post, Haisla Nation chief councillor Ellis Ross says his people believe exporting LNG would offer "gateway-like" economic benefits and would be safer than the Enbridge pipeline.
He says LNG pipelines have a much better safety record than crude oil pipes and a number of projects are already in the works that can be completed before the gateway project.
