The city of Calgary is wondering where the federal government was after officials were forced to inspect a legal marijuana grow operation.
It was inspected Wednesday by police and the city and a number of safety infractions were found.
It is in such bad shape, it will likely be demolished.
Wayne Brown, Coordinator for the Coordinated Safety Response Team (CSRT) says Health Canada never talked to his department about regulating or inspecting the home that was growing medical marijuana.
"An inspection of this nature is the first of its kind for Building Regulations," says Brown. "To find this number of safety infractions in a federally approved medical grow operation is very disturbing," he adds.
The infractions include: building code infractions, compromised air intake, toxins, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer and potential contamination of drinking water.
There was another legal grow up in our city, Brown says it exploded in October and in both cases, city officials were unaware of the homes.
