A couple of Calgary schools think the fright should be taken out of Halloween; they're asking students not to wear scary or violent costumes, and to celebrate caring instead.
It's partly an effort to respect students who come from backgrounds that don't celebrate Halloween.
Northwest commuters tell 660News this may be taking the fun out of the holiday.
"It's Halloween. It's supposed to be gory and scary," one man says.
Another early-morning commuter agrees, saying it's a really bad idea.
"It's an old tradition, Halloween, and part of it is being as scary as possible. I think it's overly politically-correct," he says.
Another woman says although it's a nice concept, telling people what to dress up as goes too far.
"I still think people should be able to wear whatever they want instead of being dictated to," she says.
