A film festival unique to western Canada is wrapping up its run of family-oriented movies this weekend in Calgary.

The 4th annual Reel Fun Film Festival has been showing screenings at several theatres all week long.

Festival Director Cathy McKee tells 660News, by the time the film festival wraps up, Calgary audiences will have enjoyed 14 premieres.

She adds many of them are Canadian, western Canadian or Alberta premieres that have never been shown in our town or in our country before.

She says the festival is just thrilled and honoured to be the vehicle for these films.

The festival will screen their official closing film, the Canadian premiere of Broken Hill,  which stars Timothy Hutton and Alexa Vega from Spy Kids.

The film's producer, Chris Wyatt of Napoleon Dynamite fame, will also be in attendance at the 1 p.m. screening this Sunday at the Plaza Theatre in Kensington.
