When it comes to drinking and driving, there's a lot more hypocrites in Canada than one might think.
A recent nationwide poll by the Canadian Automobile Association found 98 per cent of people think getting behind the wheel after drinking is unacceptable.
But 24 per cent admitted to doing it in the last year.
The situation isn't looking any better for Calgary.
Calgary police have handed out more than double the number of impaired driving charges during their holiday CheckStop campaign this year over last year.
Acting Sergeant Bob Pughe tells 660News people just aren't getting the message.
"I think people are thinking that two or three drinks at lunch time are okay," he says. "But obviously our numbers aren't showing that."
Pughe says even designated drivers are getting licence suspensions for impaired driving.
He's encouraging anyone who thinks they've seen a drunk driver to call 911.
