Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards has returned!

The most popular Olympian of the 1988 games is in Winnipeg this morning to carry the Olympic torch.

Edwards was Britain's first Olympic ski jumper ever and finished dead last.

But he was a huge hit with the fans.

He gained a cult following thanks to his big smile, prominent underbite and his massive Coke-bottle glasses.

Unfortunately, Edwards says he won't be wearing those classic glasses for his torch run, although he did bring them along for fun.

"The Eagle" will carry the flame for 300-metres out of the Manitoba capital.

He is thrilled to be back in our country.

"Being in Calgary at the Olympic games was my dream come true. It was lovely being there and taking part and Canadians really took me to their heart. They loved what I represented, the whole Olympic spirit, the Olympic ideal," Edwards tells CTV.

Edwards doesn't ski jump anymore, and says he's just focusing on staying upright while carrying the precious Olympic flame.

He adds he hopes he doesn't become the Olympic human torch.
