One day we could get our energy from flaming snowballs.

Several countries are trying to find a way to turn methane gas hydrates into a commercially viable energy source.

Canada is one of those countries and it is believed we are sitting on a lot of the potential resource.

Methane gas hydrates are frozen clumps packed with natural gas, but if you add fire they become flaming ice chunks.

Natural Resources Canada has spent 3.9 million dollars over the last three years studying the frosty power source.
