An official says it appears Brittany Murphy died of natural causes.
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Spokeswoman Sally Stewart says the 32-year-old died
at 10:04 a.m. Sunday.
Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter says the cause of Murphy's death ``appears
to be natural.''
He says the actress apparently collapsed in the bathroom. Authorities are
looking into her medical history. He adds, Murphy's family is co-operating with
the investigation. He says an autopsy is planned for early this week
The Los Angeles Fire Department says they responded to a 911 call from Murphy's
home. Spokesman Devon Gale says the call was made at 8 a.m. Sunday from a home listed as belonging to British
screenwriter Simon Monjack, who is married to Murphy.
Popular gossip website TMZ.com and blogger Perez Hilton were the first to
report the death of the 32-year-old actress.
The websites say she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived,
later dying in hospital.
Murphy's manager, agent and publicist haven't yet commented.
The actress starred in such films as ``Clueless,'' ``8 Mile,'' and ``Don't Say
a Word.''
