It was a greeting worthy of royalty or a rock star.

Students at the Calgary Academy got a special treat Friday with a visit from the Man In Motion.

Rick Hansen is currently touring Canada marking the 25th anniversary of his cross country trek in a wheelchair to raise awareness about spinal injuries.

He tells the Calgary Herald he is hopeful a cure for spinal cord injuries will be developed sometime in the next 25 years.

Students at Calgary Academy weren’t even born when Hansen made his grueling trip, but that didn’t dampen their enthusiasm when the Man In Motion arrived.

The 25th anniversary tour stops at BMO Centre on the Stampede grounds, Sunday.
