Mayor Dave Bronconnier is not seeking re-election.
That means we’ll have a wide open race for the Mayor’s office this fall.
I can’t wait.
As a journalist… it has been a while since we’ve had a significant shift within the walls of City Hall.
I’m willing to bet there are atleast half-a-dozen disgruntled provincial politicians who are considering a run for Dave Bronconnier’s gig.
Premier Ed Stelmach has upset a few members of the Tory party through cabinet shuffles and policy changes.
And the provincial Liberal party simply isn’t a power to contend with.
So… why wouldn’t some MLAs think about gunning for the top politicial job in Calgary?
They’ll be in for a tough race from some current Alderman.
Like I said… I can’t wait for the civic election.
I’ve already circled October 18th on my calendar.
