There’s an Oscar possibility for the local film Wild Life.

The Calgary production is an animated film about an Englishman trying to make a go of it on the Alberta prairie in 1909.

It was produced by local film makers, Amanda Forbis and Wendy Tilby and received a nomination Tuesday for best animated short film.

Both women say the film’s story has special meaning to them as they both had English grandparents who came to Alberta in the early 1900′s and were met with extremely harsh conditions.

Wild Life is a 14 minute animated film. Both Forbis and Tilby have been nominated for an Oscar before for a short film they made back in 1999.
