Dave Taylor was the first, could Raj Sherman be next?
Taylor made some mini-waves Monday when he announced he was leaving the independent bench of the legislature, to sit with the previously unrepresented Alberta Party.
If Sherman were to come into the fold, we could expect somewhat of a tsunami!
But, the Alberta Party, a bunch of self-described moderate centrists, are adding to what is already a pretty crowded left side of the spectrum in provincial politics.
The Liberals, NDP and now the Alberta Party will all be fighting for basically the same vote, and if one thing isn’t needed, it’s more vote splitting on the left.
So, how about this: Merge into one big party.
Being moderate, the Alberta Party banner would be a great one to fly under.
You’re not the Liberals and you’re not the NDP – two parties that haven’t exactly been tearing up the political landscape and clearly do not have anything that resonates widely with Alberta voters.
Let’s face it – there’s no headway being made by anyone with a left-leaning base.
A simple name change might be just what the doctor ordered.
