Calgary City Council is not making any tough choices to improve snow removal on your streets and roadways because Alderman want to get re-elected.
The proof? City Council has decided another study is necessary before doing what is obvious.
This time Alderman have disguised the procrastination excercise as a financial audit.
The audit means nothing major will happen until after the civic election in October.
For some Alderman, it means they can avoid serious questions and complaints during the up-coming election campaign.
(By the way… this is the exact same strategy some Council members used years ago before introducing anti-smoking by-laws in Calgary)
As for the snow removal issue… Council will eventually be told by city administration that to improve service more money will have to be put into the budget.
It’s a very simple formula: a bigger budget = more plows and sanders = less snow and ice on the street.
