Flames ready to embrace ‘C of Red’ in Game 6

Saturday night’s Game 6 at the Saddledome marks another chance for the Calgary Flames to book their ticket to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The team is looking forward to playing in front of the ‘C of Red’ and wants use the crowd’s energy to spur them on.

“Obviously, it’s going to be a tough task,” blueliner Kris Russell explained. “Winning the fourth game in any series is the toughest game to win. We know it’s going to be a challenge. We know they’ll bring their best game, but we’re excited to play in front of our fans and excited for the opportunity.”

Head coach Bob Hartley isn’t making any lineup changes, which means Jonas Hiller will start in goal once again.

“We still have home ice advantage,” Hiller said. “We will have to work hard for it. It’s going to be a tough game again. If we play like we did in the third and fourth game, we definitely have a chance.”

Puck drop is at 7pm on CBC and Rogers Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

The last time Calgary advanced past the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs was in 2004.

If the Canucks win, Game 7 will go Monday night in Vancouver. The series winner will play the Ducks, who swept the Jets in four straight games.
