Naked man drives Canada Post truck through SW community

It was a once-in-a-career type call for some Calgary police officers Wednesday afternoon.

Duty Inspector Ryan Jepson says just before 5 p.m., police were told about a Canada Post truck driving the wrong way on 47 Street SW.

“The report was that he was driving the vehicle and clothes were being thrown out the window,” said Jepson.

“A short time later he was observed on Crowchild Trail and hit a number of vehicles, at which time he abandoned the Canada Post truck and ran naked into the community of Lakeview where he was subsequently taken into custody by police.”

Around six to ten vehicles were hit along Crowchild.

Police are working to see whether the Canada Post truck was stolen, or if the driver, a man in his late 20s, was an actual employee.

Jepson says the suspect was obviously under the influence of some kind of substance.
