Man in hospital after SUV and cyclist collision in SE Calgary

One person was sent to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition Sunday after a collision in Calgary’s southeast.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Deer Run Dr. and Deer Meade Rd. S.E. at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

“The patient was treated and transported by crews to the Foothills hospital,” said Nate Pike with Alberta Health Services.

Calgary Police Services is investigating the incident and the Collision Reconstruction Unit was on the scene.

CPS believes the crash involved an SUV and a cyclist in his 50s or 60s.

Pike added this comes as a reminder for those who plan on enjoying the summer weather by biking or skateboarding to wear the appropriate safety equipment.
